Charles's story
From engineering research to AI products and the lecture hall.
Charles began as an engineer and researcher, with a PhD from University College Dublin, more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and two granted patents, then founded a health-tech start-up before moving into data science.
He has since spent over a decade in data and AI in financial services: leading analytics teams, building machine-learning models and commercialising AI products across Europe. That meant taking AI through data, compliance, legal and risk sign-off, which is where his focus on practical governance comes from.
Alongside that, he lectures in AI, analytics and process automation at UCD Professional Academy and Dublin Business School, where he has trained more than 500 professionals and supervised over 100 MSc dissertations. He also holds an MBA with distinction from Trinity College Dublin.
